Through its community engagement work, Puerto Antofagasta helps train community leaders and build collaborative networks. As a member of Alianza Antofagasta’s Advisory Council, the port company took part in the launch of the fourth edition of Universidad Social, continuing its involvement in an initiative that connects it with those driving development in Antofagasta’s neighborhoods.
This new edition brings together 50 participants and includes 100 hours of training to strengthen their management skills and ability to access funding. Led by Alianza Antofagasta in collaboration with Universidad Santo Tomás, Universidad de Antofagasta and AIEP, the program began its activities at the Santo Tomás campus, opening a new phase in this joint effort involving businesses, academia and community organizations.
During the ceremony, the port’s support for the coordinated community response during the pandemic was highlighted. That experience gave rise to the program. This collaboration has helped shape training developed with community leaders themselves, based on the tools they need to manage their organizations and develop projects for their communities.
