As part of its commitment to the region, Puerto Antofagasta engages with school communities and seeks to connect younger generations’ education with the challenges of regional development.
In this context, it participated in the Meeting of Companies Supporting Technical and Vocational Secondary Education in the Antofagasta Region, following an invitation received through Colegio Don Bosco. The event was convened by Escondida | BHP and Fundación Minera Escondida (FME), with which the port has worked closely under a cooperation agreement.
The meeting featured a presentation of Código Futuro, a program that develops digital skills in areas such as programming, artificial intelligence and data analysis among students in the third and fourth years of secondary school in Chile, to prepare them for the challenges of Industry 4.0. According to the information shared at the event, the program brings together 2,732 students.
The port shares responsibility for bringing technical education closer to industry. The internships, dual education and technical site visits discussed at the meeting offer opportunities to contribute to the education of new generations and the development of regional capabilities.
